None to report
The Library is going to hold off on the purchase of the ProGo camera and accessories at this time due to concerns about the viability of the company that sells them. Director Firer expressed appreciation to the Friends for offering to underwrite that purchase; the Library is looking at other products that might be purchased in its place.
Diane Christie reported on the quotes she obtained from three local CPA firms to prepare the FOML tax return. The quotes were as follows:
Turman & Eimer CPAs-$500
Koshers & Company CPAs-$750
Mayne, Blumstein & Fingold CPAs-$750
This survey was conducted to ensure that the Friends of the Merrick Library is obtaining CPA services at the lowest cost. We currently pay $76 annually to Tusa & Associates CPA, P.C. Based on this survey we will continue to employ the services of our current CPA firm.
Diane Christie will purchase popcorn bags for the Family Movie on February 22 at 2PM. The flyer will be created by the Library to ensure that all necessary disclaimers are included.
Maureen Garvey set up an account for the FOML with Square so that the Friends can accept credit and debit cards for membership payments. Square is a card reader that you attach to a smart phone which then interacts with Square’s app. Square takes 2.75% of each transaction as its fee. There is no charge for the reader itself.
Ms. Garvey reported that the fee for the FOML Weebly website will be due in Sept. We will either downgrade to a free Weebly site, or convert to a free Wordpress site. Ms. Garvey will coordinate with the Library on any changes to the site.
Upcoming meetings for the FOML: Feb 13, Mar 13, Apr 10, May 8 and June 12. All meetings are held on Tuesdays in the second floor conference room and start at 4:45PM.
A motion to adjourn was made by Howard Schwartz at 5:45 PM.
