Invoices for the previous month was presented to the membership.
Residential membership stands at 46 members, with seven expired members. Members will reach out to any of the seven expired members that they know personally to ask them to join again.
Business sponsorship stands at 8; there was a discussion of whether to return to snail mail renewal notices next year; it was decided to try it and see if we get a better result with a hard copy that we did this year using email exclusively.
The Friends Breakfast scheduled for May 5 was cancelled due to insufficient registration. It was decided that Karen Tusa will ask Angela Capone if there is a Sunday afternoon in mid-to late-October available for us to try again.
The Shredding Event was a success. About 45 cars came, and 3,000 pounds shredded trash produced. We did not check licenses, at Charlie Deblasio’s suggestion, but some members felt that next year we should check. It was also noted that Mr. Deblasio recommended a large street sign advertising the event. Karen Tusa said that some attendees mentioned that they had learned of the event in the Merrick Herald Life, which was thanks to Jack Lubowski. Ms. Tusa asked Mr. Lubowsky to add this event to the FOML bookmark.
The papers required from the Friends by HSBC have all been submitted, including a copy of our by-laws.
The Tasting Event is set for Thursday, Sept. 20thfrom 5:30-7:30. It was decided that the upcoming event should include fewer vendors and we should check to see that different restaurants are not bringing the same dish. Volunteers will be asked to contact three restaurants each.
Upcoming meeting for the FOML: June 12. All meetings are held on Tuesdays in the second floor conference room and start at 4:45PM.
A motion to adjourn was made by Maureen Garvey at 5:30pm.
